The aim of the Science Education Program is to provide the science teacher candidates who will work at primary schools with the knowledge and skills related to their fields and necessary for the teaching profession. The program has approximately 250 students, all of whom are bachelor's degree students enrolled in daytime education. Courses are given in classrooms equipped with smart boards and projections. There are four fully equipped laboratories of physics, chemistry, biology, and science teaching (STEM) for the applications of the field courses.
Graduates of Science Education can work as science teachers in private primary schools or public primary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. In addition, graduates who wish to pursue a master's or doctoral degree in the field can enroll in the Science Education Department of Sakarya University Institute of Educational Sciences as well as graduate programs of other universities.
Opportunities Provided By The Program
Students in the Science Education Program could pursue a double major in the Departments of Biology, Primary School Mathematics Education, and Chemistry.
Science Education Department has been accredited by EPDAD since 2018. There are ERASMUS agreements with Bulgaria, Netherlands, Spain, Poland, and Romania, and MEVLANA foreign exchange agreements with Morocco and Kazakhstan. The department also has agreements with various universities in Turkey as part of the FARABI program.
